Dear users in the United Kingdom,

The following article only applies to users in the United Kingdom.

With the following FAQ, we would like to inform you about the changes that will occur with regard to the sale of our products to users in the United Kingdom from 01.01.2019.

:arrow: What causes the changes?
The exit of the UK from the EU.

:arrow: What consequences does this have?
In the short term and for a certain transitional period, we expect certain conversion issues for tax and billing reasons. To avoid this as much as possible, we will suspend our own direct sales to the UK in the current form from 01.01.2019 and for the time being.

:arrow: Is there a replacement for direct sales?
From 2019 and for a certain transitional period, an external service provider will be charged with the handling of sales to UK. This service provider will be also formally the seller of our software to users in the UK. All obligations in connection with sales to the UK are handled by this service provider.

:arrow: How does the purchase of products from Freiwald Software via this external service provider work?
In the process itself, there are not much changes for you as a buyer. You can put all desired items in our web shop in the shopping cart as before. At the end of the purchase process you do not pay directly to us, but you are automatically directed to a form of the external service provider and conclude the purchase process there. You make the payment to this service provider. This service provider is officially your seller in this process.

:arrow: Then not much will change for me, right?
There are only few changes in the process itself. However, there will be a noticeable change in price.

:arrow: Why does this affect prices?
The external service provider requires a commission from the sales. In addition, the shop integration and billing with the service provider incur additional expenses in our internal procedures.

:arrow: How are the prices changing?
The prices valid for the UK will be increased by about 15% on average across our entire product range with effect from 01.01.2019.

:arrow: Why will these changes take effect from January 2019, and not just when the UK actually leaves the EU?
For certain company-internal reasons, this change is only possible for us at the beginning of a year.
Although it is not clear at the moment that the UK will leave the internal market of the EU in the course of 2019, it is also not excluded. So we have to act on this possibility.
These two conditions imply, that the change must already take place at the beginning of 2019.

:arrow: What does certain transitional period or for the time being exactly mean?
This change, i.e. the relocation of our sales to UK to an external service provider, is likely to stay in effect until the end of that year in which the exit of the UK from the EU has been completed. With the beginning of the year after that year we will very probably sell to customers in the UK on the same conditions as to customers in other not-German speaking countries like Norway, Argentina or Papua New Guinea - in particular at prices in USD (which are after conversion higher than our EUR prices).

:arrow: Does this change only apply to new customers or to all customers?
This change applies to all customers in the UK.

:arrow: Does this change also affect other aspects like download of the software, technical support, treatment of defective USB sticks, etc.?
Not yet. Aspects not mentioned here are not affected so far. Whether and how this will change in the further course of the Brexit, is currently not foreseeable.
